A good example ... The Korean War began in July of 1950 whenNorth Korea invaded South Korea.
A better example ... The 3 year long Korean War began in 1950 when communistNorth Korea invaded democratic and US supported South Korea, pulling the
United Nations into a peacekeeping effort in Asia. (ooooh, that's good - so good)
- The United States made up most of the United Nations army. We had the most amount of soldiers in combat.
- When crossing the boarder President Truman hoped that the two Koreas would unite after the war.
- During the war the UN pushed back the communist forces across the 38th parallel.
- When pushing back the communist forces,China soon became involved on Novmeber 25th 1950, they warned the UN not to push any further.
- The Chinese Government pushed back the UN forces all the way back to South Korea.
- MacAuther wanted to bomb China, the president refused, but then MacAuthor then denies the presidents comand in result MacAuthor was fired.
- Many Americans liked MacAuthor as a general, losing many people liking for Truman.
- Truman feels that the Soviet and United States should have a truce talk. The talk took two years. When two years come around he decides not to run for president again.
- President Eisenhower becomes president in 1952. He makes a promise to end the conflict in Korea. Eisenhower kept his promise the war ended in 1953 leaving the americans frustrated.

Many people think that the Korean War was fought in tropical weather, but the winters in Korea are actually bitter and challenging for the troops.

The Americans had the greatest amount of soliders in combat. These two soldiers carry their belongs on the long journey that lies ahead.
